I would start by using blueprints to set down a 5x5 or 6圆 grid of your city blocks, so you have an idea of what is going where. Open your favorite factory planning app, and see how many of each thing you need. 1000 SPM is generally considered a megabase. Direct mining into a smelter, pumpjacks directly connected to an oil refinery etc.įirst thing to do is decide how many SPM you are going for. The no-input part is done in the editor by spawning a 3x3 resource patch where i need it, increase the amount of resources into it to a big number (usually 4G for a 3x3 patch) and copy/paste that patch where-ever i need it. One of the things i like is designing bases that are 'just in time', without large buffers that produce the exact amount of things that it is designed for, without any inputs and only 1 output (the result). I use the editor (/editor after pressing ~) to build and test a lot of bases as well. I've had train bases, belt bases and bot bases, all have their advantage and dis-advantages.īut as i said at the start, there are also other ways to build a megabase. I've build 'small' ~90-250SPM 'outposts' which i just build where ever there was a large patch of copper and iron close together and i've build factories for each intermediate type and science. To design the factory there are multiple ways to do it. I feed this into a calculator and start designing my factory. After that i usually pick an SPM target that i want to reach, for example one of my latest builds was 8 full belts of science packs, or 21.600 science packs per minute. Next i build 2-4 of them to reach 90-180 modules a minute. My outposts usually can do 45 modules per minute (ie: 4 t3 assemblers filled with speed modules and surrounded by 12 beacons with 2 speed modules in it), but at the start i dont have any modules, so i build them as if they were moduled and use the modules they produce to increase their speed. Next i start building outposts to build T3-speed modules and productivity modules (next to a large iron or copper patch). I usually look which one is the cheapest and research that one. If you want to do it 'vanilla' you need a starter base that gets you started with some infinite research, mostly bot speed and mining productivity. There are several approaches to build a megabase. Look both ways before you cross the tracks. The only significance is life, which leads to the further wisdom. Every assembler is but a visitor to where it resides. Let your anxiety wash away as you perceive that every belt placed can be moved. Most games punish you for building, demolishing and rebuilding. Your mistakes have no cost but time, and the deconstruction planner even reduces that cost. Submit bug reports on the official forum.īlueprint Bot - Will render blueprints for you!
